Formative the Competency of Your Pet Boarder

   Alyssa Jasmine   Published: 7/14/2011

Many dog and cat owners these days send their pets to a pet boarding facility. It is a place for the pups and cats to be cared for while you are away from home and also have the opportunity to be around others so that they don’t get feeling alone. A pet boarding service which is competent and efficient is the ideal one to send your pet to when you have to go away.

In order to determine the competency of the pet boarder, see how long the staff members spend with the pets. The more attention they give to the pets, the more competent they usually are. Also, make sure that they offer friendly care to your dog or cat as you want them to love your pets as you do. A competent pet boarder will also ensure the pets get sufficient playtime while at the facility and are not bored while staying there.

Competency can also be determined by looking at their emergency plans. In other words, what will the staff do in the case of an emergency? Make sure they have a vet on call and are well-versed in emergency pet situations.

Here are some more things to help you determine the competency of the pet boarding facility and its staff:

1. Hygiene and cleanliness factors exhibited by the staff.

2. Safety in handling and preparing your pet’s food.

3. The facility should be secure and safe for all animals.

4. Medical steps taken by the staff in case of an emergency.

5. How they interact with your pet.
6. Qualifications of the individual staff members.

In addition, make sure that your pet boarder is insured, bonded and has the essential licenses for the operation of the facility. All of these aspects will help you to determine that your pet boarder is competent and an ideal one to choose for your pet.
